We, at SADRAG, have responded to the pandemic of Covid-19 through all kinds of support to people in need. We have supported around adults and children with milk, dry rations, Nutrition and Protection kits, drinking water and cotton face masks.
The women during pregnancy & lactation are clinically more vulnerable and at risk of COVID-19. Poor nutrition and inadequate reproductive health care may increase their susceptibility to infection. They need to, in particular, stay safe and avoid anyone who has symptoms suggestive of Corona virus.
District Gautam Budh Nagar in the state of U.P. has 1100 Anganwadi centers with each having 10-12 women enrolled for immunization and reproductive health care. These women are migrants and have lower socio-economic conditions of life. With livelihoods lost, most of these women at anganwadi centers are seen without the protective face mask.
We want to protect pregnant and lactating women from the dreadful virus of COVID-19. We want to give a set of two cotton reusable face masks to a total of 2000 women.
The cost of one face mask is 13 INR. The total cost for protecting 2000 pregnant women from COVID-19 is 52000 INR.
