Our organization, Fontal Development Foundation (FDF) is based in Deoghar district of Jharkhand. Currently we are working in Dumka district. Due to the corona crisis, situation is crucial in our operational areas. The region is mostly dominated by the tribals and is prone to migration.
The young men and boys go to other places to work leaving their families behind. But due to lockdown, they have been forced to come back unfortunately with no source of income. The lockdown advisory has taken a huge toll on the poor and daily wage labourers with no source of livelihood struggling to meet their daily needs. There is a huge food crisis apart from lack of proper communication channels which will only deteriorate the existing conditions in coming days. Other than this, the survival of cattle and families who depend on it are also at risk due to unavailability of fodder for these cattle. With no food, no reach to maintain sanitation, these groups are in a detrimental condition. The situation is tend to worsen due to lack of awareness and poor living conditions.
In the wake of this Covid-19 crisis, we have taken an initiative to raise fund and help these vulnerable groups combat the global pandemic. We aim to improve resilience among the selected vulnerable and needy families in the target areas through dry ration distribution to address malnutrition and chronic hunger at household level. We shall focus on women headed families, daily wage earners, families with elderly, ailing people and Divyangs.
We request you to come forward and lend your helping hand for a noble cause. Our safety& hygiene kit costs ₹ 460 (INR) which includes liquid hand wash, sanitizer, masks, kerchiefs and sanitary napkins so as to improve the hygiene practice and reduce the potential risk of spread of Covid-19 within the target community through building awareness and improving behaviour on safe practices like taking basic precautionary measures of physical distancing as per government’s guidelines.
The dry ration kit costs ₹ 1000 (INR) which includes sugar, salt, beaten rice, jiggery, mustard oil, biscuits and dal to help a family for at least 15 days and alleviate their sufferings as much as possible.
We are reaching out to seek your support and kind contribution to help them sail through this challenging time. At present we have targeted 342 households of 5 villages of Jarmundi block, Dumka district. The funds will be utilized to procure and distribute these kits. We shall maintain all the records with photographs and update on this platform.
