    Folk Artists

    from Ranipettai, Tamil Nadu

The Folk Artists in Tamil Nadu rely majorly on the festive season (March-August) for their livelihood and manage the rest of the year predominantly with whatever they get then. Since it has not been possible for them to perform in many festival/ temple during the season for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021) due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, which resulted in cancellation/ ban on temple festivals and public gatherings, restriction on crowd in Weddings and Funerals, and lockdown, they are in the brink of starvation and are in need of urgent help for survival.

Art for Artists - 2020

In May 2020, we (Vivarta along with LawOutLoud) hosted a Fundraiser Art Sale called "Art For Artists" and collected a total of Rs. 2,00,000/-. All the proceeds from the sale were used to provide financial assistance to 40 Artists and their Families (169 Beneficiaries) spread across 27 villages in Tamil Nadu.

In 2021, the situation is more dire with the increase in the Covid-19 cases in rural Tamil Nadu, as apart from loss in livelihood, the artists also face the challenges of fighting the Covid-19 virus now.
Therefore, we urge you to contribute to this Fundraiser to support the Artists survive and sustain themselves during these uncertain times.

Our Object

To provide financial assistance to the Folk Artists and their families to cover the expenses that they may incur on basic necessities and medical/ health expenses.
