The entire team & volunteers are working to provide food and subsistence to daily wage workers in South West Delhi.
Run by a dedicated team of volunteers, which includes professionals, students, artists and community members, it has been providing food and ration kits to hundreds of people in South West Delhi since the start of the lockdown.
Madad Welfare Society is a Pan India based NGO, serving since 2006 in many states of India with major works in Delhi & Bihar. Madad Kitchen initiative, which included a total of two kitchens. It was the principal kitchen that started from Mahavir Enclave, Dwarka, New Delhi 110045 and ran continuously for 90 days, providing for migrant workers, homeless people and daily wage earners in areas such as Dwarka, Palam, Mahvir Enclave, Bindapur, Qutub Vihar, Shyam Vihar and Najafgarh.
From 15th April 2021, it has got a new home at Mahavir Enclave Community Centre. Now branched out as an independent enterprise to keep up with the dire need of food and ration, Madad Kitchens now plans to run for 60 days. Extended for 90 days!
Through continuous effort, the initiative has also developed an intense relationship with the community members. Apart from food and rations, Kitchen now intends to start facilitating employment opportunities for the community, looking for a sewing unit to make masks, employment through the kitchen itself and supporting small businesses.
As the country continues under the impact of the lockdown imposed due to the spread of COVID 19, daily wage earners have been largely left to their own devices. The country is witnessing endless cycles of migration and now, reverse migration of workers who did not get any support in the cities and now, even in the villages with no source of income.
Most people who have lost jobs as industries are devastated by the economic fallout of the virus and security concerns brought on by physical proximity will not open up opportunities for months to come. The need to continue with the kitchen work remains urgent.
Many beneficiaries of the initiative have no other source of income or subsistence. Often, food packets distributed throughout the region are the only food available to people in a day.
Help us to continue our work.
For initial 15 lakhs:
1,000 meals a day for a period of two months,
Ration kits and cylinders to 150 families thrice a month for two months
Employment opportunities in the kitchen for 10-12 people from different communities
To help in setting up new employment ventures for the people by providing sewing machines, food carts, material for making masks etc.
We need your support to help the needy & poor in this pandemic of Corona Virus.
Please donate & help us as much as you can to fight the battle of hunger.
