Everything was quite well until December 28 when my father reported a severe stomach problem and we rushed to Anu hospital Vijayawada for a quick checkup. My father got admitted to the hospital on the same day as it was identified as a case of the liver problem. After 7 days of treatment, doctors in Anu hospital suggested us to consult Yashoda hospital as the condition of the patient was getting severe. The doctors in Yashoda performed various tests on my father related to the liver condition and concluded that my father's liver has been damaged up to 80% and it requires liver transplantation (Non-Alcoholic).
We were shocked and shattered to learn this. My father is my hero and I could not see him suffering so much, so my brother and I came forward to donate our liver. To our sheer bad luck, both of our livers were not a match. So we registered in "JeevanDan"(Indian government portal for finding suitable donors) and we are in the second position of the waiting list to obtain a liver from the donor. We are expecting this surgery to be performed in the month of August.
The cost of this liver transplant surgery quoted by Yashoda hospital is 25 lakhs INR (Twenty-five lakhs rupees). We have spent around 13 Lakhs till date for necessary checkups, doctor consultation, medicines, etc.
Apart from the cost of surgery mentioned above the additional treatment cost would go up to 15 lakhs including pre-hospitalization, post-hospitalization, Medicines, 15 random Blood, 3 same blood group for platelets and Albumin injections (up to 100 injections. Each injection costs 5000 rs). So the total cost of the surgery is going up to 40 Lakhs. I managed to gather 20 Lakhs by selling our farmlands and availing the personal loan. I need another 20 Lakhs in order to go with this surgery.
