Cause : Livelihood support for suicide impacted farmers families in distress.
Cost : Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 depending upon the support program.
Number of families : 50

In India on average 1 farmer commits suicide for every 30 mins due to farming crisis. Newly formed telangana state is no exception to this crisis. Many of the suicides often go unaccounted for due to failing to register the FIR report in time before the funerals. Official numbers are almost 1/5th of the actual numbers. As soon as the tragedy happens, family is faced with immense grief of loss, pressure from money lenders and the anxiety of uncertain future for themselves and the children. Since there are limited options for farmer widows in the villages they often fall into deep debt crisis without any sustainable livelihood options. Rythu swarajya vedika and kisan mitra helpline have extensively travelled across the mancherial district and gathered details of 50 families who did not receive any ex-gratia amounts from the govt and are in need of urgent livelihood support that can help them to get back on their feet. The livelihood options include cattle,goats/sheep rearing, poultry, backyard kitchens, borewell support, kirana stores or any other small businesses which will suit their abilities and can generate a sustainable monthly income for livelihood. From our previous experience of similar support programs, the average cost of support program is Rs 40,000 per family. Thanks for your support.
Please feel free to reach out to us for further details. we can also try to connect you directly to the families if that helps. If possible please spread the word to any individuals/groups/communities/organizations who may be willing to support. Thanks for your support and time.
