Many families who were dependent on daily wages for a living even before the crisis have now lost their source of income, which means that their children are not getting enough nutrition or worse experiencing hunger.
To respond to this situation, Educo has launched an emergency response across Maharashtra state, which is now the epicentre of coronavirus in India. We have started distributing essential dry groceries, including rice and pulses, to help children survive through the lockdown and hygiene kits with soap and detergent to keep them protected from diseases. We also continue to educate children and their communities on how they can better protect themselves against coronavirus.
The current pandemic has also increased psychological stress among children and adults, with many experiencing fears of being infected or feeling anxious due to the uncertainly as to how long the crisis will drag on.
We have seen that there are more children and families in dire need of food packs and hygiene kits.
Help us deliver lifesaving aid quickly to them. Donate to our emergency response in India.
