The Joy of Sound project by the Rotary Club of Chennai Kilpauk was initiated in the year 2015 as a sustainable project to provide quality education through the latest smart class technologies to the hearing impaired students at the special schools for them.
It was identified that the learning process for these students is different from normal students and hence the regular content available does not suit them. Over the next 3 years, the Rotary Club of Chennai Kilpauk along with volunteer teachers and special educators from these special schools has developed the content for them and the pilot was implemented with hardware in 3 schools and 16 class rooms at an approximate cost of Rs. 65 lakhs.
Since 2018 till date we have made smart classes across various schools in Chennai covering about 60 classrooms with support of various donors and CSR funds of various companies including ICICI Prudential, Elcot, HDFC to name a few.
We now want to cover all such classrooms in the state of Tamil Nadu (as the content that is ready is based on the state's curriculum). The cost of each class room to be equipped with a smart board is about Rs. 80,000/- and hence the funds raised will help us provide atleast 25 such smart classes in various schools.
Your small contributions today will help shape the future of many students who are really smart, but deprived of the basics that we take for granted and neglected by many.
