Education maybe everyone's right but for many young girls in the rural hinterlands of Jharkhand, it comes as a privilege. Poverty, that primarily results in labour and early marriages keeps children especially tribal girls away from further education. Many girls drop out at early levels - primary and middle school, out of them some manage to pass matric. The Kalamandir CCAF thus introduces the Savitribai Phule Award that shall motivate the block-wise girl toppers to seek admission in intermediate and also complete it.
The Savitribai Phule Award is an extension of Medhavini, an education project by Kalamandir CCAF that supports 40 young girls in their education. As a part of the Award, we shall encourage three girl toppers each from each block of East Singhbhum district to continue intermediate studies and complete it. An educated Jharkhand would mean an empowered Jharkhand.
The Award shall take care of two years of intermediate studies that will bear their admission fees, examination fees, and study materials to an extent. Any student dropping out will not be eligible to receive the award amount.
