Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Educational Trust is engaged in implementing various activities related to Health, Child Education and Women empowerment issues in the Asia's largest slum - Dharavi in Mumbai, India.

Dharavi is the most under-developed area in Mumbai. 92% of the population living below the poverty line. Chronic malnutrition is the single biggest contributor to the deaths of children under 5 in Dharavi. Symptoms like anemia, insufficient weight and size and weak health are very common factor among the Children s of this area. Among the consequences of malnutrition are stunted growth, increased susceptibility to disease and permanent intellectual damage. Widespread poverty and lack of access to quality pediatric health care, clean water, sanitation, and education compound this problem.
We are running an Educational Project in Dharavi slum and providing holistic and formal education we have 650 students at our school, out of which 99% belong to underprivileged families. Our School, Consist of 550 children. Majority of them belonging to a below poverty line and most of them are all community. Through Teacher’s interaction with the children regarding the absentism and lackness in concentration, we recognized that most of our children are under deficiency category. To identified the children the medical check-up was organized and the children were identified, Vitamin tablets were distributed to balance, but for a permanent solution they need a good nutrition food to manage their health. Hence we would like to start a mid day meal programmed for our children, for which we need your support for a permanent programme.

Budget: The Cost of tiffin is Rs 20 for 650 children per day
Hence 650 children cost Rs 13,000/- per day for mid day meal
13,000 x 10 month =1,30,000/- year
