    Durgesh Garud

    from Mumbai, Maharashtra

Hey!

I am Durgesh and I am working with strictly electric on various projects for converting petrol vehicles into electric vehicles.

My encounter with a man has motivated me to start this fundraising campaign. Maruti, a man sitting in a wheelchair visited our workplace with his request to convert his normal wheelchair to an electrically driven wheelchair. Maruti is a Mumbai based electrician who strives hard to earn his living. He wanted to motorize his wheelchair so that he didn't have to depend on anyone for his daily movement and work independently to cope up with his expenses.

After conducting a lot of research on the current market scenario, I realized that an electric wheelchair that is of utmost significance and one of the most primary necessities of a handicapped individual is sold in an extremely high price range.

So, I along with my team decided to develop motorize wheelchair which can be available to the public at the price range of around Rs.25,000/-. The primary motive of this initiative to help people like Maruti to live an independent life and enjoy their ride of freedom at an affordable price.

So far we have managed to develop a design that uses a single motor drive mechanism (instead of the conventional dual-motor method used in the market), tested and simulated it conceptually. However, to take it to the next step we need your help so that instead of helping just one individual, we can potentially help millions of people like Maruti.

This is how we plan to use the funds:

ItemCost in RupeesDetails
Motor variation testing and development60000Currently, we have come up with different configurations of motor placement that we need to test to finalize on the best option.
Battery variation testing (We are attempting to develop an in-house battery manufacturing set up just for this project)70000Strictly Electric has a set up for assembly of battery. However, Project Sarathi will require custom-built batteries for providing the best possible quality. Hence we need to build a new custom setup for the same.
Differential Development65000Design and development of the main part of the mechanism which will allow us to eliminate the use of the conventional expensive dual-motor setup.
Material Costs30000All the material required to build the wheelchair from scratch.
Beta Prototype modeling and production cost60000Development of the prototype model.
Setting up operations for mass production300000
Compensation for external contributors dedicated to project Sarathi (for 2 months)70000Compensations to be paid to the external help hired to work on the project.
IoT and controller development and testing40000
Ergonomic testing35000Testing and improvising the designed wheelchair to see how it would affect the user physically.
Stress testing (will need 1 prototype just for this)40000Testing the fabricated prototype to understand any possible flaws in the design and improvising the same.
Total Funds Needed770000We are asking a total of 8 lakhs including taxes and other fees

Our Project was also featured on All India Radio's 100.1 FM Gold! Check it out:
