Dr. G Sakthinathan. A person with an incessant zeal to make a positive change. A man of high principles, optimism, and vision for society. A rare combination of an academic and an activist who ensured that technology was used to solve social and environmental challenges. A teacher who was loved and revered by his students. A wonderful human being who was held dearly by the people he worked with.

He was exemplary in discharging his duties in the many academic positions he held and has contributed to academic knowledge through rigorous research. He went beyond the call of duty to make a change in the lives of farmers in the southern region of Tamilnadu. He mobilized the youth and the people of the villages and catalyzed the government machinery into action to free the river Thamirabharani of encroachments. He was instrumental in rejuvenating defunct tributaries so that they brimmed with the elixir of life.

His untimely death has come as a shock to everyone who was touched by his gentle and loving nature. He lost his life due to a COVID infection after fighting for close to two weeks in the hospital. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many farmer organizations for which he served as a guiding light.

Dr. G Sakthinathan is survived by his wife and two children aged 10 and 11. Through this crowdfunding initiative, we hope to make a substantial financial contribution to the family of the departed soul. Please donate generously so that his dreams for the family do not wither away. While the family is undergoing a difficult phase due to the sudden demise of a loving husband and a dear father, the challenges are compounded by apprehensions about the future. One can never compensate for the loss of a family member but the least we can do is to lower the financial burden on their shoulders.

The amount collected through this crowdfunding process will be handed over immediately to Ms. Selvi, (W/o) Dr. G. Sakthinathan. We hope to raise an amount of Rs. 20 Lakh by 15th June 2021.
