Distemper and Parvo Virus are two contagious and deadly viruses that affect pups and unvaccinated adult dogs. Parvovirus, if left untreated can cause fatality within 48 - 72 hours. In the case of Distemper, 50% of the adult dogs that contract the virus die from it and the fatality rate is even higher amongst puppies and the death rate often reaches 80%-90%.

These viruses, in most street dogs, go unidentified and prove to be fatal. Distemper and parvovirus both need extreme levels of social distancing between dogs and hence it becomes of utmost importance to keep infected dogs separated from others to help prevent spread. With strays, it becomes extremely difficult to maintain this distance and ensure the dog affiliated with the virus gets proper medical care.

Through this initiative, we seek to help such street dogs in distress who are battling these diseases on their own, without a shelter;  by providing medical boarding. In most cases, veterinarian visits along with blood tests, x-rays, ultrasounds and expensive medications are required.

The cases we most typically help, include canine distemper, parvovirus, tick-borne diseases, paralysis, infected wounds, maggot wounds, skin infections.

Medical requirements:
•    Immunity booster medicines
•    Liver support supplement
•    Nerve tonics
•    Anti-seizure medication
•    Suppressant and topical analgesic
•    Bandages
•    Neosporin powder
•    Flea and tick treatments
•    Deworming medicines
•    Antibacterial medicines
•    Antifungal medicines
•    Vitamin and mineral supplements
•    Nebulisation

Diet and shelter:
As distemper and parvo badly affect the immunity of the dogs, a healthy diet is required so that their immunity can be strengthened. We try to cover all the dietary requirements and provide a balanced diet with all the necessary supplements as per the advice of the consulting veterinarian. We also ensure that a clean and safe environment is provided to the kids and even when they are isolated from other dogs, they have ample space to run around.

For now, due to monetary concerns, we are only limited to helping a handful of cases, but slowly we are looking to make it a holistic program and increase the intake of dogs under our wing. We need more people wishing to join hands for this humane purpose so that no street dog is denied shelter and medical care while fighting these deadly viruses. To continue this work, we require funds and thus need your support.

If you want to be a part of this change, kindly support, in any way possible. We as furry friends would be grateful if you contribute something to make their lives a little better.
