    Dickson Pradeep Kumar. J

    from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

I, Dickson Pradeep Kumar Joseph (40 years) am from the southern part of India. I was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy, a chronic kidney disease caused due to a genetic disorder along with high blood pressure in 2016. The doctor who diagnosed me put me on medications and told that in 5 years’ time the function of my kidneys could go either way. However, my kidney function declined to a complete dysfunction in march 2019. The doctor then advised me to get a kidney transplant to have a longer healthier life. Until then I must undergo dialysis to stay alive, hence from then on I am undergoing haemodialysis thrice a week. After every dialysis I am left with very low energy and low blood pressures that leaves me feeling weak and tired, hence I am unable to take up a job.
At the moment I am undergoing dialysis using the chief minister's scheme that offers free dialysis, but I have to pay for the cost of the dialyzer and the tube that is used for the blood purification. In addition to it I have to take blood tests every now and then which overall costs about 5000 Rupees per month. During the past two years, I also underwent cataract surgeries on both my eyes and had a motorbike accident which almost took away my life, but luckily I recovered with heavy expense for the treatment. My bank savings have rapidly shrunk due to medicines, dialysis, eye surgery and accident recovery expenses. I present I am left with very negligible money for living and other expenses such as medicines. Hence here I am requesting funds to support my living expenses, medicines, dialysis equipment, kidney transplant surgery and recovery costs.
My mother passed away when I was 3 years old and my father in 2003. I have a younger brother but, due to his high blood glucose levels the doctors ruled him out as a potential kidney donor. However, I have registered with the Tamilnadu government organ sharing network (waiting list = 250) and expect to receive a cadaver kidney. Since this waiting period and other paper work takes some time I am looking forward to raising funds within that period of time. I kindly request all who read this to kindly support me and share it with your friends and family. I will be grateful for your support and I assure you that I will pay it forward when I am in a position to do so.
Despite losing my dad’s support after my master’s degree I worked hard to continue my education to earn a Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering by securing a scholarship in an institute in South Korea. After my dad passed away I became self-reliant, supporting my brother in times of need both emotionally and financially. I was working as a research assistant professor at Dongguk University, South Korea when I was diagnosed with complete kidney failure, hence I was unable to continue my contract and had to come back to India for my treatment.
I am a sports enthusiast who pays a lot of attention to health by exercising regularly with no drinking or smoking habits, but this hereditary disease of mine has left me disabled. I lose at least 5 hours of my precious time in a hospital bed during every dialysis session. If I do not get a kidney transplant I will have to spend the rest of my life on dialysis. However prolonged dialysis may or may not suit me, eventually resulting in loss of blood, therefore, leading to physical weakness and eventually death. I wish every moment to get over this phase of my life and live a normal life.
Towards this, I request all your support to help me get a kidney transplant and get a new life. If my plea has touched your heart and urged you to help me out, I kindly request you to donate to the below-mentioned bank account. I thank everyone who has taken the time to go through my blog and my heartfelt thanks to those who come forward to help me to get a kidney transplant.
