My name is Ankit Pahwa and I seek your help for my friend, Paras Marwah. Paras bore extreme financial pressure to pay for the medical expenses to save the life of his father.

His father was on ventilator support for over 25 days this time as he was fighting against a rare life threatening condition of Urosepsis and Septic Shock with diabetes. The infection spread throughout his body in these 3 years as he was admitted to hospital for over 20 times during this period. He spent over 50 days in hospital every year during this tenure.

Despite multiple efforts and procedures undertaken by the doctors, he passed away on 17th December, 2020 at Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad.

Existing financial burden and money borrowed for medical expenses

Despite being medically insured, Paras had to spend his family savings and borrow money to pay for his father's medical expenses (as insurance pays 80% and 20% has to be paid by self, which ultimately turns out to be 70% - 30% as many items/procedures are not covered under insurance).

This was the third time that he had to be admitted to a hospital in 2020.

He comes from a lower middle class family and is the sole bread winner for the family. An existing home loan doesn't allow him to go for another loan.

Need your help to raise money to ensure low financial stress for a son who did everything to save his father.

While Paras has borrowed over Rs. 10 Lacs in 3 years, we need at least Rs. 5.41 Lacs to cover the expenses borne by Paras from his pocket (by borrowing money from people) only during 2020.

I have attached the paid bills for reference.

Bill 1 - Paid in April 2020 ( Paid Rs. 0.64 Lacs by borrowing)

Bill 2 - Paid in October 2020 ( Paid Rs. 1.39 Lacs by borrowing)

Bill 3 - Paid in December when insurance amount got exhausted ( Paid Rs. 2.44 Lacs by borrowing)

Bill 4 - Paid in December post death ( Paid Rs. 3.13 Lacs by borrowing, out of which he expects receiving 2.19 Lacs i.e. 70% of 3.13 Lacs as insurance claim). 

Money paid from own pocket by  borrowing was 0.94 Lacs (3.13 - 2.19 Lacs)

Total money spent on medical expenses by borrowing in 2020 - Rs. 5.41 Lacs
