Hello everyone, I am Devarajulu R, 27-year-old supervisor manning one of the shifts of the Kasa Kiosk for the past 2 years. Let me explain what is Kasa Kiosk? The Kasa Kiosk (Manned segregated waste collection kiosk) is an alternate solution for dropping your segregated waste if you miss your regular waste collection vehicle. This kiosk has been set up by Saahas NGO with the CSR support of Omega Healthcare at Wind Tunnel Road, Murugeshpalya, Bengaluru. It was inaugurated on 18th December 2018. It operates in two shifts: Morning 5 AM to 10 AM and evening 7 PM to 12 AM on all 7 days, including government holidays. The facility is being utilized by the residents and shops/vendors who operate in the proximity of the kiosk. This has resulted in visible cleanliness in the area and reduction in waste dumping on the Wind Tunnel Road in Bengaluru.
At present, the operational costs of the kiosk are borne through CSR funds. We have started collecting a small user fee from the waste generators depositing their waste at the kiosk, but not many people are paying this fee. In order to make the manned kiosk financially viable, I would like to set up a small repair shop next to the kiosk. This will help promote the culture of repair and also supplement my income from the user fee so that I can continue to operate the kiosk. To set up a metal structure for the shop, I need an amount of INR 60,000/- in total.
Saahas NGO has started a campaign to raise funds to help me. Through this platform, I wish to raise an amount of Rs.20,000/- so that I can set up the shops and become an entrepreneur. I request you all to contribute a small amount to create a livelihood for me.
