Devansh Gandhi is a contemporary dancer/ choreographer, based off Bangalore. He completed his diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media from the renowned Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts, Bangalore, India, in 2019. He currently facilitates workshops in contemporary dance techniques and Bollywood freestyle.
All the dancers in this production have graduated from Attakkalari Centre of Movement Arts and Mixed Media.
The story of 'Black is the Colour' started as a personal journey to understand and connect with Devansh's trysts with sleep paralysis and insomnia. Inspired from his own experiences of sleepless nights, he worked with dancers to explore and evoke intimate responses from individual physical and mental spaces.
We have been working with breath patterns, glitches, improvisations, darkness and light to unveil unconscious impulses and fears triggered through the subconscious mind.
Rehearsals have been conducted at Dhurii space over the past 8 months to curate this choreography and are looking forward to being able to finally showcase our work. We need your support to finance the production to be able to showcase in Bangalore International Centre very soon.
If you are able, we would love it if you could make a donation to help us achieve our goal to showcase our piece to an audience larger than the dance community.
