Seemant Lenka was a friend, a brother, a colleague, a pupil, a senior or a combination thereof to all of us. His sudden, untimely and most unfortunate demise has left us all shocked and saddened and reeling under a crippling sense of loss. He left his bodily abode in the wee hours of Tuesday, 18th of August, 2020. He was only 43 years young.
Seemant was a product of the founding generation of NiST. A student of the very first batch of our alma mater, he was both a trailblazer and a flag-bearer for our beloved institution. During the college years, he was one of the fittest blokes around. Legend has it that he used to bust out 150 push-ups every single day! And honestly, it reflected in his lean and muscular physique. To his closest friends, he could be summed up in just two phrases: ‘Zindaadil’ and ‘Yaaron ka yaar’. Besides all the endearing qualities, he had an extremely sharp intellect and great work ethic to boot.
Naturally, Seemant went on to distinguish himself professionally and was last serving as a Senior Infrastructure Leader/Architect playing the role of Global Lead for a multinational client along with holding additional responsibility of Leading a team for ITIS (CBO) accounts at Tata Consultancy Services, Hyderabad.
A TCS veteran who started his professional career with the company(another example of his loyalty), he has been described by his colleagues as someone who had an unique leadership style, who was well-liked and respected by everyone starting from his team members to his peers, to senior leadership as well as the clients. His style of engagement, his personal touch, honesty, forthrightness and transparency helped leave a mark which is worthy of both admiration and emulation.
Seemant is survived by his wife Deepika and their two adorable children who are 12 and 7 years old respectively. As we grieve the departed soul, let us also take a moment and think about the family he left behind. It is crushing to even begin to fathom what they must be going through at this time. We fervently hope they can find a semblance of succour in the comforting embrace of immediate family and close friends.
That said, it is only right and proper that we, his extended NiST family, come through for his immediate family in their greatest hour of need. Therefore, this fundraiser has been setup to enable all of us to rise to the occasion and contribute generously to help build up a corpus that not only provides the family with instant relief to cater to unforeseen expenses but also strengthens the long term financial security of Deepika and the kids.
Let this fundraiser also mark the beginning of a new chapter in the history of NiST where we resolve to come together as a community and pool our collective resources to extending help every time one of our own has fallen victim to hardship or tragedy. Let this herald a new trend of looking out for one another as a community.
Therefore, humbly request each and everyone of you to open your hearts and and loosen your purse strings and contribute handsomely to this noble cause.
Let's honour the memory of our dear friend by doing our bit to support his family. Thank You.
