My name is Soumik Paul and I am here to raise funds for my Sister-In-Law Deepali Paul who is 49 years old. Deepali Paul lives in Kolkata, West Bengal with her children. Dipali Paul and her husband Gojendra paul used to run a restaurant in dumdum but in 2016 their business was forced to close down due to the construction of a flat as they were not the owner of that restaurant they were tenants and used to pay a monthly wage to run that. Now as the construction of the flat was on they were forced to close down their business for 2 years. In 2018 after the completion of that flat the restaurant was given back to them but this time as the owner as they were tenants for almost 12-15 years and the ownership was given as per the law. After the opening of the restaurant in 2018 their business was not profitable at all as used to be as there were many new restaurants during the span of 2 years and their parmanent customers went to some other restaurants and as a result was very difficult to feed the family of five. Their family consists of 5 people Gajendra paul (dipali's husband), Dipali Paul ( patient) , Ganesh paul ( Gajen's brother who used to work at that restaurant) , Milton Paul ( Dipali's elder son who used to work as a delivery boy in flipkart but jobless since Dipali's paralysis) and kushal paul (Dipali's 2nd son who was forced to quit studies after school and at present works at a medical shop).They all live together in a small 2 room flat in dumdum MC garden road.Their lives became worse on 29 th December 2019 Dipali fell from a rickshaw and was senseless . She was immediately admitted to RG kar hospital in kolkata . After some tests doctor told them that it is a spinal cord damage and her lower portion from waist to foot was completely paralyzed and need to perform a surgery but no bed was available in most of the government hospitals including RG kar for surgery.They said it could take upto August-september to get a bed for such surgery and in most of the cases the hospital doctors were unwilling to perform such a surgery and they lacked the finances to treat her at a private hospital.
So without delaying they decided to take her to satya sai institute of higher medical sciences in banglore after contacting them.
But still lack the finances to travel to banglore so they asked everyone to help them including relatives local people and local councillor. So everyone helped them to the best of their ability the relatives the local people and also the local councillor .
With the help of every one the manged to get a amount of nearly 150000.
On Feb 20 2020 they boarded the train from howrah to yesvantpur and reached and immediately started the treatment.
Gajendra paul Dipali Paul and Milton paul went to banglore the other two stayed home.
Everything was going well and after running many tests and following the long procedure Dipali was given the date of admission on March 18 2020 . They stayed in a lodge at a place call kathguri with a fare of 500 per day and used to travel by auto to the hospital.
Bur tragedy struck when hospital called them before the admission and asked them to come after 10 days as the hospital with remain close due to covid-19 pandemic.
On 25th March 2020 lockdown was announced through out the country and they got trapped their for 3 months.
On July the boarded a special train from banglore and reached home with out treatment. After arriving here they were quarantined for 14 days and in all these processes they almost lost all their money.
Nearly 110000 were spent to survive all those months and Dipali's situation remains the same till date and the satya sai institute of higher medical sciences remained closed till September 2020.
The current situation is Dipali's condition is getting worse day by day . Her leg is shivering all the time and it is being tilted in a awkward manner and she won't survive more than 6 months without treatment. Satya sai had resumed sevices from October.
Now the main problem arises no one is willing to help them this time the people who helped them priviosly asking their money back including the relatives and the local people the councillor refused to meet them many number of times and their restaurant is closed since Dipali's paralysis from December 2019 and couldn't be opened latter due toh lack of money and funds . Their daily needs are made by rashon cards that provides free rice dal and some few people still helps them by providing vegetables eggs etc. but most of the people avoiding them due to their helpless situation.
Now again a  initative has been taken to take Dipali's to banglore and we together managed to collect 25000 rupees from here and there . Their train is on 17 th February from howrah.
I soumik paul hereby request all of you who are reading this that this is the last chance to save my sister in law . This money all we got . Milaap is our only and last hope . During the hard moths of lockdown my brother Gajendra paul tried to his best to start a treatment in kolkata but the response was the same.
I am making this very very specific please note the cost of surgery in satya sai institute of medical sciences is absolutely free . We need this money to stay their for 4-5 months because the process of the treatment is very lengthy and they run many number of tests . The doctor told them priviosly it may be required to perform two sugeries if the first one wasn't successful and that's why it is a time taking matter because it will not be possible to take her to banglore twice so they will stay their. There should be a 30-40 day gap from the first surgery and the next one. The above money that we have given is our estimate from the past experience. So I am saying again the cost of surgery is absolutely free their .we need that money for room fare,food( break fast lunch and dinner) for 3 people, transport,tests and medicines. I have uploaded the previous documents and medical reports and some current photos of Dipali paul and I will upload the train tickets which they will travel on 17th February and other documents as well and videos of Dipali . Actually this is my first time starting a fundraiser so it is taking some time to learn the process.
