Quite early in my life, I had reflected and realized that I was not meant to be part of corporate race when I started off as a corporate banker in 2011. It was never satisfying nor it gave any fulfilment. After several experiments to discover myself, I had found a calling in rural energy and climate change that has grown with passion, empathy and self-reflection. As I became more engaged in the non-profit sector, it became clear that this is the cause that I want to dedicate my next 30 years. It will take more than just me to save this planet, so I urge more people to come together to take actions for climate emergency.
As for my credentials, I have multidisciplinary work experience in civil society, public policy, private sector and development advisory start-up. It was at my last organization where I realized the potential of energy in transforming rural communities, productively and sustainably. Apart from social work in India, I also have had the opportunity to work in Myanmar on climate resilience program in slum communities. I have also published articles on popular online platforms to create awareness on issues related to climate change. I have attached my work summary and resume so you can have a look at my educational achievements/honours and professional experiences.
The total estimated course fee for the duration of the course is GBP 22,500, equivalent to INR 23,20,883. However, I have been awarded tuition fees scholarship of GBP 3,000 reducing my tuition fee to GBP 19,500 or INR 20,12,152. The living expense for the period of one year is GBP 10,000, equivalent to INR 10,31,488 . Hence, the total expenses comes to GBP 29,500 or INR 30,43,473.
I am investing most of my savings, close to INR 10-11 lakhs (~ $15,000) and dipping into parents savings as well. Given my father is a pensioner, my conscience is not allowing to further drain the funds that he had saved for himself & my mom for later years. He has himself had taken immense burden to educate me till now. I do not want to further burden him. Hence, there is shortfall of INR 15,00,000. Like many of the students, I will work part-time to earn for my living expenses. I have applied to scholarships, but I am yet to hear back from them.
So, please do contribute and support me. Any small contribution will help and I would be ever so grateful to you. I am not making a boisterous claim, but my ambition is truly to give back to society and pay it forward. I wish to continue work in research and policy space of energy and climate change, that would have a greater impact on people and planet. For transparency, I will also keep an expense sheet that you can track later and see where I am spending the funds. I will also be attaching bank statements in the excel sheet.
