    This fundraiser will benefit

    Dev Goswami

    from Delhi

Tax benefits for INR donations will be issued by DAVO

Dev Goswami was born in a small village in Haryana. He belonged to a poor family and he started working in his school days earning 50-60 rupees per month. When Dev was 18-year-old, he found himself at a railway station without money and he hadn't eaten for 2 days. He asked someone for a puri at a stall and the person gave it to him. He then asked for one more but then the person got angry and abused and shouted at Dev. This experience deeply hurt Dev and he decided that he will one day provide food to as many hungry people as possible.

In 1978, he started working as a truck driver. He was moved by the sight of the homeless and hungry people who he saw on the roads while he drove his truck. He always remembered his own struggle with hunger. He decided that he stop his truck and will provide food to whoever he finds helpless and hungry on the roads. Slowly, his interest in helping other grew more and more and he started giving the homeless a bath, a haircut and food. He got married to Tara who too got inspired by Dev's efforts. Both of them decided that to devote their life to the homeless. Since 1984, they have been working relentlessly for their welfare.

For 35 years, Dev and his wife Tara, have carried out this service of helping the homeless, caring for them and providing them food. Currently, they are running two homes for the homeless, one in Dwarka, Delhi with 60 inmates and another one in Sonipat with 70 inmates. Tara takes responsibility of the Delhi destitute home when Dev goes and looks after Sonipat destitute home.

Dev and Tara are struggling with the medical expenses of the inmates as most of those are sick when they are taken into the home. They also need funds to pay to the doctor to carry regular visits to the home. Your support will help Dev and Tara build a dispensary which can provide for the medicines for the inmates. With your help, they can arrange a doctor to visit their home on a regular basis so that Dev and Tara can provide a better life for these homeless.
