On receiving the request from the enumerator for supporting daily food expenses and her son’s education, we, at Sattva Volunteer Network, managed to coordinate with a local NGO and a vendor to deliver a month’s worth of ration to her family. On receiving the ration kit, she was happy that we were able to help her with this and she mentioned how her family was struggling to eat 3 full nutritious meals a day.
So far, we have supported about 50 data enumerators with medicines, school fees of children, ration kits, electricity bills and rent. We continue to receive calls for support from more every day. The data enumerators are one amongst the many who have been hit at large by the pandemic in the country. Most of them have been out of jobs since March 2020 and are severely affected as they are the sole source of income in their family. They work on different research projects by collecting data from the field and are not having any work and a stable income since the onset of the pandemic as on-field data collection is being disrupted and stopped by most of the organisations owing to the pandemic situation. Sattva Volunteer Network has reached out to 200 data enumerators so far. Some of them and their family members had to stop their medication even for life risking diseases as they are unable to afford it.

Hear from Enumerators:
"My father has some health issues and has been taking medications on a daily basis. I usually purchase medicines from a nearby pharmacy and it was closed for several days owing to the lockdown in May. The nearest pharmacy is 100 kilometers away and I had no means to travel that far and purchase medicines. Besides, I was running out of funds with no income and my father had to stop taking medicines because of all these. When Sattva people reached out to me to enquire about my wellbeing, I told them about my situation and sought help. They helped us by providing a month's medicines to my father amidst the state-wide lockdown. My father could restart taking medication. It was really of great help to me and my family."
"I have been out of work since many months because of lack of projects. I have 1.5 year old child. I was unable to buy my kid milk since I have no income. I explained my situation when Sattva Volunteer Network reached out to me. They have taken up a month's milk expenses now and it is of great help to me."
