Help Sameera Get Her Sight Back

My name is Crysel. I work at a local animal rescue center in Siolim, Goa known as Welfare for Animals in Goa:WAG. We rescue all creatures great & small, from dogs & cats to cows, goats, chickens, turkeys & ducks.

This beautiful calf we call Sameera, was found with two large maggot wounds in both her eyes. She suffers from Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), a new viral disease that is spreading through cattle all over Goa. Poor Sameera is blind due to this disease, but is being treated for her ailments every day with antibiotics, supplements & oral medication.

LSD is an insect-borne pox disease of cattle and is characterized by the appearance of skin nodules, sore eyes, runny nose & fever. If the Lumps burst open, which they often do, this causes fatal wounds , which get infected, full of pus & maggots. 

At our Rescue Centre , we have been overwhelmed with Cows & calves coming in, with  “Lumpy Skin Disease”
We have had success curing it, but desperately need funds for medicines, food & supplements.
This is Kartik, a one month old calf also suffering from LSD. You can see how distraught his mother is as Kartik is unable to see.

At present , we are treating 20 Cows with Lumpy Skin Disease. Sanitisation is also important to keep the virus under control.
Stevie is a blind bull who has lost sight in both his eyes to LSD.
