The Novel Coronavirus has hit India leaving the government with no other option than a complete lockdown to contain its spread. Lockdown is an extremely testing time for all people especially for daily wagers, contract laborers & all those whose livelihood depends on day to day earnings. They will be the biggest victims of the lockdown even before COVID-19 enters their communities.
The on-going nationwide lockdown has severely affected the livelihoods of marginalized communities, most of whom are dependent on daily wages for survival. With no money to buy provisions and the closure of schools and ICDS centers, underprivileged families and their children are not even getting regular meals. A situation that is not only causing unbearable hunger and malnourishment but also lowering their immunity against deadly diseases like Coronavirus.
To do our bit to help the situation, we the volunteers of CRY (Child Rights and You) have come together to raise funds for the NGO’s initiative to protect vulnerable children and their families
In this time of crisis, CRY will be providing a packet of dry rations to over 1.76 Lakh underprivileged households across India. This will include cereal, dal, oil, sugar, soy chunks, and peanuts and will last them a month to help ensure basic nutrition for the children and their family members.
Additionally, CRY will also be spreading awareness amongst communities on the importance of safe hand washing practices and social distancing to stay safe. Everything will be in accordance with government protocols and with all necessary permissions.
But we cannot do this alone and need your help!
