May I know about India Youth for Society?
India Youth for Society (IYFS) with headquarters in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh established in 2011 has been one of the most prominent organisations initiating and supporting manifold activities focusing majorly on environmental conservation through anti-plastic campaigns. It is accredited to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP).

As a call of duty, the NGO, formed by a group of young citizens is relentlessly working in providing support to the needy in the current pandemic-hit times by providing PPE kits, masks, oxygen cylinders, free food etc. It has supported medical institutions, sanitation workers and lives in the past more than one year. The NGO has found support from young people in Vizag city and we have also expanded our area of influence into the rural areas towards Araku valley, Paderu, Madugula, Lambasingi and Chintapali.

Our core environment conversation activities, emanating from the vision, are driven by intense cleanliness campaigns, awareness programs, collection and donation camps, significant among the many conducted in the last decade are listed below.
  • Beach cleaning is a continued activity that has seen a collection of 130 tons of garbage, 57 Tons of Glass & 22 kgs of mixed plastic.
  • Heritage site and lake cleaning campaigns in partnership with prominent citizens and organisations of Vizag,
  • Raising awareness programs towards road safety, alcohol de-addiction, environmental protection programs in school etc.
  • Establishment of plastic collection centres or Plastic parlours’ and plastic recycling centre providing livelihood for more than 200 women and rag pickers.
In continuation with our efforts in environmental protection, we intend to make considerable contributions in women empowerment and child safety in the decade and help achieve the SDGs by 2030.
