    This fundraiser will benefit

    Hunger struck homeless individuals

    from New Delhi, Delhi

Hi everyone!

As India continues to battle a raging second wave of Covid-19, a new crisis has emerged alongside the health one- a hunger crisis.

Despite lockdown-like conditions, many impoverished families and individuals remain on Delhi’s roads and outside COVID hospitals with no roof above their heads, braving the scorching heat everyday without a steady source of food. Some of them may be waiting for family members who are patients in hospitals, while others may have nowhere else to go.

We are trying to do our part by providing free thalis (food packages) to these individualsSo far, we have distributed packages to 1400 individuals in the last four weeks. We would like to expand this initiative and need your help to do so. The packages contain four rotis, a cooked vegetable, one curry dish and a spoon. Each costs INR 80 (USD 1). To feed 100 individuals for one day, costs INR 8,000 (USD 110). The funds go directly to a dhaba (a roadside food stall) in Delhi that is helping us to provide the food, and would otherwise have limited income during this time.

We have been distributing these packets to individuals outside AIIMS, Lok Nayak Hospital, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and Sai Temple, as you can see in the photos above. We now need your help to enable us to continue to do so.

You can help by donating from the safety of your homes, to bring relief and much-needed energy to these individuals. You may donate any amount, or you may choose to fundraise one day of food deliveries by donating INR 8,000. We will send you the photos from that day’s deliveries. To "reserve" a day, just drop us a message on Instagram.

The food is distributed by a properly masked driver, who has been a part of our family for the last five years.

Thank you all for your support! We will continue to post photos of our progress.

Best,
Meera and Raagini
