    Covid Infected Patients

    from Simdega, Jharkhand

India is reeling through an unprecedented second wave of COVID- 19 with cases crossing 400,000 and deaths in thousands every day. While the predominant focus in news were urban centers; rural areas are witnessing invisible catastrophe of greater proportions.
Take the case of Simdega District of Jharkhand that has about 93 percent of population in rural areas and as on May 4, 2021, the district has 25% Covid Positive Rate. Of the 6 Lakh Population; 1.5 lakh are infected. Of these 15% need hospitalization. This comes to 22,500 patients. Without hospital support there will be more deaths. Specifically, second wave of Covid 19 has hit the bread earners of the family.

Amidst these challenges, Shanti Bhavan Medical Center (SMC), Biru village (170 Kms from Ranchi), Simdega district is trying its best to cater to the challenging situation. It is one of the only two hospitals with 100 beds; catering to villages within a radius of 50 kilometers. On an average it is receiving 30 patients every day. In the last 10 days out of 400 patients 10 passed away. There is an acute shortage of oxygen and funds for medicines.

In our discussions with the hospital executives, we found the following;
SMC per Covid patient cost is ~ Rs.9000/- per day.
They can manage ~ Rs.5000/- through government schemes and subsidies
They are in need of funds to the tune of Rs.4000/- per day per patient to save lives.
Critical life threatening 5 days of the COVID – 19 (5th day to 10th day) will cost Rs.20,000/-

Until help arrives SMC team is fighting all odds to save lives… Lets help them to save lives.

We urge you to donate the amount equal to the critical life threatening 5 days; i.e. Rs.20,000 and multiples thereof.

You save 1 life = saving 1 family = you are in their prayers eternally.

Let us pledge that each of us will save atleast one life. More is better  of course.
