Prameya Foundation, Echoes Project and Probaashe Bangali Adda are setting up "Oxyzone" Centers in Kolkata, to provide free oxygenation for Covid patients. Eleven Oxyzones have been set up in Jadavpur, Sodepur, two in Khidderpore (Khidderpore2 ), Salt Lake, Uttarpara, Bhawanipore, Moore Avenue, Kasba, Gosaba and Sundarbans. Plans are in motion to create even more Oxyzones. The next ones are supposed to be created in Purulia and Patuli. The Oxyzones have 2-3 bed capacities, have oxygen cylinders/concentrators, santization centers, pulse oxymeter, blood pressure monitors, and volunteers (who would take necessary precautions by wearing PPE kits and masks, shields etc and would be knowledgeable about how to operate oxygen cylinders/concentrators).
Oxyzones would be breathing spaces where patients who need oxygen and experiencing breathlessness and sharply dropping SPO2 levels can be brought by for oxygenation. We are also going to provide free oxygen for pick-up if the Oxyzones cannot accommodate the patients. So far we have collected not only help in the form of funds for the cylinders and concentrators but also for the PPE kits, masks, bed, fog sanitizer machines, sanitizers, oxypulse meters and BP monitors as part of your generous donations. We still have a long way to go. We are working towards at more Oxyzones to open. Which means we need more oxygen cylinders. So that we can come together and make our city breathe again.
