Story

Manipur the Power Bank of Sports in India is taken to shock and woe by the Covid pandemic since March 2020. The state is the gateway of India to South East Asia, bordering Myanmar. The state administration has taken responsive action to declare a curfew, closure of markets, workplaces, schools and move on to vaccination drive. The increasing trend of COVID positive cases is 800 -900 persons per day, the recovery rate is 70–80% and the death toll is 10 –15 persons per day. The positive cases have crossed morbidity rate in the normal situations by 60% while the death toll is 27% to normal mortality rate.

The people are panic while children are unrest to the loss of classes and play. The denizens are trapped in illusion, social stigma and myths. Myths on the virus and vaccination are the roadblock to preventive measures taken. The pandemic is anticipated to go long way for months to years. The disaster has stunt school children, absolute poor and wage labours for losing learning and earning.

The state has about 37% BPL families and 700000 more unemployed youths. Distressed youths are entrapped to militancy. The BPL families, mainly widows rely on jungle herbs and tubers. The state has a unique socio-culture tradition with 33 ethnic tribes who speak different dialects in remote geographies.
