Everyday we hear and see heart wrenching stories and pictures of India struggling to breathe. One such picture above is a woman dying in the ambulance right in front of the hospital due to lack of beds and oxygen support. This and many has broken our hearts.
Hospitals are overloaded and people are dying before they get care.
What can we do, what can I do ?! As many other volunteers, my friends and I wanted to help with the immediate need of oxygen
We wanted to address two problems
1 - oxygen concentrators for hospitals that are in need
2 - oxygen concentrators when people are still waiting to get medical care.
Scenario 1 needs 10Liter oxygen concentrators
Scenario 2 needs 5Liter oxygen concentrators (or) cylinder refills
As a first step we have acquired five- 10 Liter oxygen concentrators in the US. We will be shipping these to India next week. With help of personal references from NGOs run by direct contacts we have identified charitable hospitals in Chennai, Neyveli and Bangalore that are in need.
This fundraiser is to acquire 15 more oxygen concentrators to address scenario 2.
These will be 5L oxygen concentrators.
They will be deployed to mobile units/ambulances that administer oxygen to patients in need while waiting to get admitted at the government hospitals. We will start with deployment to Coimbatore Government hospital.

NDSO are working to bring oxygen cylinders to these patients who do
not need to be admitted, but still need to be administered oxygen, stationed in ambulances / private vehicles outside hospitals in Chennai
