Current Situation
Kharagpur, a town with half million people in the district of Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal , India is fighting the worst battle of COVID-19 with record breaking daily cases. Hospitals and healthcare systems are running out of medical supplies and oxygens, making it very difficult for COVID -19 patients to get basic treatment.
Reason behind the campaign
I am a former resident of Kharagpur but my family still lives there .
Last 2 weeks have been a roller coaster experience for me personally as I had Covid patients at home back in there and I have seen the struggle to gather necessary medicines and Oxygen for my dear ones. This is something I , and probably we , as a community have never experienced before.
When the big cities in India is having Oxygen crisis, you can imagine what can happen in small villages and towns. There is simply no supply of these and covid patients are not even getting basic treatments.
Therefore I , together with a voluntary group WE (fb group: WE_WEians) , have initiated this campaign to buy oxygen concentrators that can be used in Kharagpur on demand basis.
A low flow oxygen concentrator costs 45000 INR (~USD 600) (currently due to high demand, it is 54,000 INR) . We are aiming to procure 5 oxygen concentrators together with other medical equipments to start with. Compared to the number of people and covid cases there , this is less than bare minimum. Therefore my sincere appeal to all if you can contribute to this cause and donate as much as you can so that precious lives are saved.When the big cities in India is having Oxygen crisis, you can imagine what can happen in small villages and towns. All lives matter. If we can save some , it worths the effort.
As soon as we have enough donation to buy the concentrators, we will order details of that will be shared through this page.
**WE_WEians is a Voluntary group and not an NGO, therefore please do not expect any tax benefit from this. `From our perspective, this is an important point to let you know.

WE_WEians is a team of young, dynamic volunteers created by my brother Sourav Ghosh and his friends in 2018. This team has been working relentlessly in and around Kharagpur Since then.Even in COVID times this group chose to reach to people to support them as much as possible.
In this second wave , they are helping COVID patients with medicine supports, medicine home delivery(for emergency situations) , online doctor's consultation and blood donation camps. This is to remember that this is a purely voluntary service group and not an NGO.
With the daily rise of COVID cases in Kharagpur and scarcity of Oxygen and medicine supplies, this team is proactively looking for procuring Oxygen Concentrator so that they can reach to COVID patients who need O2.
