    Covid-19 Patients

    from Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Given the rapid spread of infection and patients not getting access to basic healthcare services, we are focussing on mobilising resources, medical equipment, oxygen concentrators, ventilators etc to increase the capacity utilisation of government hospitals.

We are setting up affordable, scalable, plug and play COVID - 19 recovery centres across different districts in Bihar, Punjab, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and more. COVID -19 patients with mild to moderate cases can be treated in these recovery centres.

The centres will be equipped with cost-effective furniture such as laminated corrugated cardboard beds, side-tables and separators, designed and manufactured by a team of experts at Anant National University. This furniture is sturdy, waterproof and easily disinfected. The cardboard separators allow patients isolation and dignity in large halls. We have also partnered with various agencies to procure medical equipment such as oxygen concentrators, oximeters, ventilators to make the treatment available in different parts of the country as required.

These centres help existing government hospitals increase their capacity utilisation as each centre is provided with all necessary equipment to treat patients with mild to moderate cases. The existing hospitals can run and manage the recovery centres, enabling them to provide medical treatment to more patients. Alternatively, the recovery centres are handed over to local authorities to manage and maintain.

This campaign is a call to action for everyone to come together and fight the grim national scenario and lift the public spirit in India. This mission brings together like-minded individuals, capable and credible organisations to contribute in the fight against COVID-19 for the nation.

Since May 2020, our coalition of partners led by Sustain Labs has made 13 COVID care centres and hospitals across 5 states in India.

What are the costs for setting up the recovery centres?
The recovery centres consist of furniture including laminated corrugated board beds, side tables, separators, bed mattresses, pillows etc and medical equipment such as oximeters, IV stands and oxygen concentrators. The approximate cost of setting up a single recovery centre with 50 bed capacity is approximately INR 3,00,00 (excluding the transportation cost). The rates of procurement are basis bulk orders placed with our suppliers. We intend to setup centres in 5 states in India through this campaign.

How will these recovery centres operate?
The recovery centres are situated in vacant buildings/ spaces identified by the local government, that are refurbished into temporary hospitals. Some examples of these are, government schools, marriage halls, community centres. The centres are linked to nearby hospitals with ICU facilities where patients can be transferred in case of emergencies.

How can you help?
We are raising funds through crowd-funding, CSR grants and more to set-up these centres. Please contribute and spread the word!
