The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the largest disturbance in the history of education systems, affecting almost 1.6 billion students in more than 190 countries on all continents. Closures of schools and other learning spaces have affected 94 percent of the student population in the world, up to 99 percent of the students in countries with low and lower middle incomes.
But these changes have also highlighted a promising future of learning, and the accelerated changes in modes of delivering education to those who need it. This is especially true for children and youth affected by a lack of resources or enabling environment to access learning. This is true for the education community at large, including local communities, who depend on education to lift communities and societies out of poverty and into better standards of livings.
Now if we imagine the scenario of a girl named Riya who attends the 10th Grade in a government school. Riya needs to attend her classes which have now been shifted onto an online platform. Both her parents work full-time. She has two siblings, an elder brother now in the 12th Grade, and a younger sister in the 6th grade. Her entire household has 3 phones, 2 of which go to the parents. Which means one phone is shuffled between 3 siblings, in which most of the time, the phone is kept with the Elder Brother. Riya gets to only attend one class in the whole day. COVID-19 has taught a lot people the depth of possible learning when education is taken online, and that education scene is slowly shifting online. We want as many people to take advantage of this shift in education.
The goal of this project is fairly simple, we want to raise funds in order to deliver devices and data, so that students from the Bagiya School are able to attend online classes and access online learning resources without interference, or other factors coming in the way of their education. If you are reading this, chances are that you have not had much of a significant struggle with Online Learning or accessing needed resources. The funds you donate will go towards delivering devices such as Tablets, Laptops and Internet Data to students who need them in order to participate in classes. We aim to help as many students as possible. Even without Online Classes, the new devices will help students, access new materials and resources to enhance their learning. Therefore, we implore you to help out students from the Bagiya school in any way you can, through donating!
