DISHA is a registered NGO working for rights & restoration of victims of violent crimes, and we come across children affected with violence in the form of - children as victim of crime, children as part of victim family and children at potential risk of victimization and abuse.
Through this experience of around 10 years, we have observed that to help these children to rise out of the dark and gloomy situations and stand on their own feet, apart from our caring and protective vigilance, schooling and education helps significantly.
The schooling opportunity that is taken for granted for most of us is almost a privilege and only hope for better future for them, which comes with hardships & struggle for even basic material things like note-books, pen-pencils.
With an intention to reduce impact of crime/risk and to reduce this burden of struggle, each year DISHA organizes a massive School-kit distribution program, wherein children from all the three mentioned categories are invited, and after a brief program of inspirational talks, games, snacks & lunch, they are gifted with school kits that they can use for the upcoming academic year. Through these programs we not only support them for education, but we also create some positive memories to cherish that are rare in their violence affected life.
As an individual we all must be having our own memories of our own 'back-to-school' shopping filled with happiness and eagerness to get back to school, or you might be seeing the same in children around you, or even your own children. While this is an 'obvious reality' for us, let me remind you that there are these children, for whom it is 'too good to be true'.
Now everyone can't have everything in life, but if you are interested in sharing the joy of growing up and schooling that you had, with these children, we ask you to join us in this initiative. Any and every amount donated is respected, and will change the life for many for sure!
Targeted Amount : INR 5,00,000
Targeted reach-out to Children: at least 200 throughout the year.
Expenses will be done on:
1) A comprehensive school kit amounting to Rs 1000 approx. = Rs 2 lakh
2) The School kit program expenses - around Rs 1 lakh
3) Financial assistance to children for educational as well as extra-curricular purpose (essentially leading to all-round development) : Rs 2 lakh.
Once donated, we keep you updated about the progress and can also provide receipts for tax-exemption if needed.
