    Children get an adequate education

    from Dungarpur, Rajasthan

Gurukul shikshan sansthan, an NGO, along with Ishwar Singh Rathore, the principal of Gurukul school, have started this project to help children from low income families or remote communities to have an adequate education.

This is the foundation for a healthy and successful child’s development. Educated children have far more chances of survival, better living conditions and a healthier and brighter future.

Ishwar lives in Punjpur, a rural community in south Rajasthan, India. He has been helping educate children for the last 12 years. He taught himself English, as his goal was to teach children in rural area since he always believed  in the importance of languages for education. The school teaches children from nursery to grade 12.

The main goals of the project are:
  • To initiate the community, advocating for the support and education of poor children;
  • To increase the enrollment of students in school;
  • To improve the access of poor children to education;
  • To change the living conditions of poor children through education;
  • And to empower the households of poor children economically.
Due to COVID-19 many children in Punjpur have lost their access to basic education. The number attending the school has dropped from 600 to 150, mainly due to financial reasons. COVID in India was the gravest danger they had faced since 1947. Families have lost their only earning member to COVID, or they have lost their jobs due to lockdowns.

Education is one of the most important investments anyone can make for the future. It is a powerful agent of change. By supporting a child to get educated, you automatically contribute to social stability and economic growth that improves families' health and livelihood.

This is a self funded school in a rural community. The school does not get any help from the government so families have to pay for their children to get educated.

By providing vital education to these children, we can stop the cycle and create a better, more equal society for all. In families that have lost their breadwinner, the remaining parent cannot look for a source of income due to having to stay at home with the children. By helping to send them to school, we are gifting them with time to use to earn money for their family’s  future.

Help ensure a child receives an education and unlocks their full potential, which will contribute to building a better world. The new school year starts 20th of June so we are hoping we can obtain the amount by then so a child does not miss any weeks.

The humble goal of 500,000 rupees will help 30 children get an education for a school year. This will cover their school fees and also transportation for all the surrounding villages, which is the second biggest challenge for families after funds. Every contribution will have a direct effect on a child’s life and future.

"We hope to raise enough to help as many children as possible to return to school and continue their education. Every donation counts and brings us closer to achieving this goal. We thank you for your support!"
