With the constant support of volunteers from our University, we have conducted English training sessions for children from villages near our University (Shamirpet, Pudur, Muneerabad, Turkapally) and set up a Reading Room and a Community Base for Education (CuBE) to provide access to bilingual books.
We are now working to set up a rural library and resource centre in Gunipally village - Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, to provide access to a wide range of books and resources for nearly 1500 children and youth living in 6-7 villages nearby.
We intend to provide access to at least the following books-
Vernacular books, bilingual books, preparatory books for NEET, JEE, CA, CLAT, UPSC etc., basic arithmetic and English vocabulary books.
The importance of libraries is well known and well documented almost a century ago, in 1927, celebrated Librarian and Mathematician S.R. Ranganathan had said that "The potentiality of a well-developed Rural Library Service for the upliftment of the masses is enormous."
We need your support to work towards this objective and build this library from scratch. The amount raised will be used to buy books, set up the library infrastructure and to provide a stipend to the library resource person.
