“Bimari, Lockdown, Corona, School Bandh” are few most heard words in the forest landscapes. Forest dwelling communities are one of those sects which have been left most vulnerable due to Covid-19. It is interesting to track how the lifestyle of the communities and children have changed in these areas. In our attempts to reach and identify community based solutions to assist communities to fight through Covid-19, we have identified livelihood and education in the communities being the sectors most hard hit by the virus.

At Samanta, In our attempt to start learning for children in the community we have been reaching them with learning kits and worksheets which are delivered by youth facilitators of the community. We have been conducting playful, innovative story-telling sessions with them to integrate their living with learning. Through these attempts we have observed that these ideas have been able to generate interest in the children to learn about their surroundings, culture, history, etc. Forest library network is another innovative idea to boost learning outcomes and youth capacity building in such topographies.

At Samanta,  we have been reaching children through learning kits, worksheets and  playful, innovative story-telling sessions with them to integrate their living with learning.
With this fundraiser we aim to:

• Set up a forest library network
• Document local stories,songs and cultural practices
