The Covid-19 pandemic has changed the world as we know it. The way we interact, work, socialise have all drastically shifted. In particular, the education sector has been hit hard; due to the lockdown, no form of in person education has taken place for the past several months.
Under normal circumstances, schools would have opened up by this month (July), but the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown protocols have left in-person education in a limbo. Schools have either put a hold on education or move to an online system.
While most schools have adopted the online model so as to ensure children don’t lose touch with academics, online learning is a privilege and is unfortunately one that is not extended to every student across our country. Children from underprivileged backgrounds are at a huge disadvantage as they do not always have the tools necessary to access and engage with online education. A working smartphone and a consistent internet connection are essential for online learning and many in the country are not able to access education due to the lack of the same.
Dribble Academy Foundation has been actively engaging with underprivileged and underserved children and communities from urban slums for over 4 years. They are actively working towards raising funds for their communities to provide them with data-equipped smartphones in order for their students to attend online classes and gain access to the education they deserve.
