We at Kalam Centre aims towards a holistic development of children, hailing from an under resourced section of the society. The project covers various aspects like academic education, self defense classes, vocational training, personality development, health tips, hygiene and nutrition awareness, career counselling and extra curriculum activities.
Our volunteers go to slums and choose a group of students who study in govt. schools. A mentor is there for every centre. Each centre consists of an average of 25 kids. As of now, 15 Kalam Centre have been set up with over 450 children attending everyday.
Currently, we are focusing on expanding it's activities to reach out to more underprivileged children in old city and reduce the consequences of lack of education. We plan to set up 50 more kalam centres which will touch the lives of over 1500 deprived children and given them access to education and life skills. To successfully achieve this, we are a team of 3 full time volunteers, 30+ active volunteer and 1000+ event based volunteers.
