Bholenath and his family of 5 have been staying in Gurgaon for the past two decades. I have been helping him out with day-to-day rations since the lockdown began. He is disabled and has a wheelchair to commute. While he has 3 young kids, he also has an elder son who is currently unemployed.
The goal is to help him sustain for a few weeks/months till the time his family(wife and elder son) can manage to find jobs to ensure they are able to self-sustain.
His monthly expenses are the following:
The ration costs around 2000 that include 15 kg of rice, 2 kg dal, 10 kg Atta, 1-2 ltr Oil, Salt & Sugar, potato & onion(5 kg each)
In addition - I have usually given him rusks, parle-g and chocolates for his kiddos, tea leaves, and milk as I deem those to be a necessity to sustain a basic human life as well.
I have contributed ~2000 this month for the above, including a tarpaulin, in order to protect from the upcoming monsoons.
In addition, I have donated a few books and stationery supplies at his kids' request. Like all kids, his kids were delighted when I shared a few biscuits and dairy milk :)
I have shared some additional photographs that demonstrate the squalid conditions his family stays in.
