Coronavirus has severely affected all citizens of India, but people living in slums have been hit especially hard with detrimental impacts from this virus. With a significant number of men and women relying on a daily wage, the notion of staying home is traded off with not eating. Many slums are severely ill equipped for an entire population to live there at once. Toilet per person is often 20:1, masks are hard to come by, and most buildings aren’t built for complete isolation.
While we at Kavach - A Movement focus on protecting women and girls from social stigmas, we have shifted our efforts to Coronavirus relief here in Mumbai because people are suffering, and they need our help. We are using our established logistics networks to get essential supplies to those that need it most in the middle of the lockdown, where even moving from one part of Mumbai to the other is difficult.
We need funds to continue distributing essential items like food, sanitizer, masks and female hygiene products. Rs. 50 can feed and protect one person so even the smallest donation matter. Please give generously and help us help vulnerable populations in Mumbai.
