In recent days almost all the communities have been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It has caused a massive food crisis in India. Initially during the total lockdown period the transportation stopped, disrupting local, regional and national food supply chains leaving perhaps the worst ever impact on human life and livelihood.Although the food crisis existed in the pre-pandemic period, it has now become worse. Many people have lost their jobs, and those with low income live with hunger and food insecurity as their regular companion. The two lockdowns forced millions of migrant workers to leave cities and return to their villages. Many of these labourers have again returned to cities in search of jobs but due to the limited employment opportunities they are facing an uncertain economic situation which has pushed millions of people across the country into extreme poverty.
As jobs are lost and starvation grows, the impact is being felt most by malnourished children, pregnant women, nourishing mothers and old-aged people. The goal of this fundraiser is to fight against hunger and help poor people to sustain during this critical situation.
