Story

Hailing from Bijapur, Karnataka, Basavaraja Shantappa Jeratagi, an 11-year-old boy suffers from acute T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, and his parents have now run out of funds to seek treatment for him. Needless to say, parents require monetary aid from the community to save their little one.

T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) is a Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that is usually found in children and adolescents. It grows quickly and presents as a mass in the chest, and patients may have bone marrow involvement and circulating T-lymphoblasts and are treated as T-cell ALL.

This lymphoma is aggressive and can progress rapidly, if not properly treated. With intensive chemotherapy, the complete remission rate can be very high and many patients can be cured.

Basavaraja's family has seen him happy and lively for most of his life. He used to actively go to school and play around with his friends all the time until life struck him with a deadly disease that grew like a parasite. When the child was diagnosed with lymphoblastic lymphoma after he fell sick, parents were left stunned and did not know what to do.

Basavaraja belongs to a family of farmers, and even though his parents struggle with their income and livelihood, they have left no stone unturned to treat their child. They went to doctors, who discovered a cancerous tumor in his stomach. Not only that, his stomach used to get filled with some fluid, owing to which they had to rush to the hospital.

Crushed under the burden of their sinking finances, Basavaraja's family sold their small piece of land in order to procure funds for the treatment. However, the cost of treatment exceeded way beyond their expectations, throwing their life out of gear. Now, they plead with folded hands to society and hope that a good Samaritan will help their child.

Apart from the cancerous disease, the child also suffers from severe breathing issues as he has a large chest mass with reactive effusion in the lung and the area surrounding his heart. Moreover, with no funds in hand and a meager income like Rs. 8,000 (USD 104.11) per month, the family is on the verge of breaking down.

Disheartened and seeing Basavaraja's hardships, his parents have become desperate for his treatment as he is all they have. His mother cries for help and begs for her child's life, she says "please save my son, he is my life. I don't want anything else, but only my son".

Despite life kept throwing curveballs at the family, they gather their courage for Basavaraja's treatment. However, with no funds and dissatisfaction, Shantappa and his wife plead to society to lend a helping hand to their son. Stressed by these situations, the couple has no money to pay for Basavaraja's medical expenses.

Moreover, after being left with no option, they expressed their grief to society. They have begun to give up on the situation as they do not have enough funds and are deprived of any resources to pay for their regular expenses. All they want is a disease-free life for their child.

Besides, the couple is battling their financial crisis and is on the verge of losing everything. They seek financial aid from society and urge the citizens to support Basavaraja's dream of leading an ordinary life as their life is slipping away from them.
