It is with a hopeful heart that I write this letter seeking for your kind support. I am Banupriya, my husband Gopi Sundaram and I got married a year ago and started our journey of life. We are currently residing in Chennai. I got conceived in April 2021 few months passed by, during 5th month of my pregnancy I had severe low back ache. As I consulted this issue with my OBGYN, I was told the pain was because of me being skinny & underweight. I was given aspirin – a blood thinner as my PLGF was low and as a result there was reduced blood supply to the fetus. Subsequently I developed rectal bleed and had worsening of back pain during the 7th month of my pregnancy. I eventually gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 14-1 -2022. During my Caeserian section I was incidentally found to have peritoneal tumor & multiple nodules, which later turned out to be metastatic mucinous adenocarcinoma
I was initially treated in Adyar Cancer Institute and underwent diagnostic laparotomy following which I had cardiomyopathy. I was under ventilator assistance and was treated in the critical care unit. A procedure which was meant to be a day care event, turned out to be a 4-5days long hospital stay and we had to spend around 2.5lakhs for the same. I was discharged home after stabilization. Presently I am undergoing treatment (Chemotherapy + Immunotherapy) in SIMS Hospitals, Vadapalani. The approximate amount required for the chemo + immunotherapy course (6Cycle, 12dose), followed by surgical excision is around 20Lakhs. (Inj. Panitumumab 400mg, 100mg will be around 39,060.00)
With all this unfortunate events we are surviving through every day, the joy of motherhood and the wonderful bond between a mother & a daughter is the one I am unaware off. The mere thought of these wounds my heart deeper because I am unable to feed her or look after her or to even hold her for more than few minutes due to this illness.
