My name is Ramesh, and my wife Madhuri. We were dreaming of the day we would hold our baby in our arms. Everything was great, the scans prior to delivery were normal and although she had to be delivered by a cesarean section, our baby boy was well after birth. We were elated that our wait was over and a healthy son was born. Everything appeared to be fine, mother and son were discharged, but our happiness was short-lived.
On the 10th day, we noticed that he was not feeding well and was very lethargic. We rushed him to the hospital and after doing initial tests, the doctor told us he had an infection that had spread to his brain. The infection was so severe it had caused an obstruction of the brain fluid (cerebrospinal fluid) leading to fluid accumulation in the brain. This is causing his head size to increase and now surgery is the only option to save his life.
We were told to take her to Kanchi Kamakoti Child'sTrust hospital, Chennai where the surgery could be done, and where he is currently admitted. Being an auto driver and my wife a homemaker, our income sources are insufficient to manage the intensive care that is needed to save his life. We have already spent nearly 3 lakh (from loans and savings) and another 8 lakhs would be needed for surgery to save his life. Please help us.
