    This fundraiser will benefit

    Baby of selvi

    from Chennai, Tamil Nadu

“The doctors said that they are trying to keep his oxygen levels up, but he can collapse any minute. He needs an open heart surgery at the earliest – but it costs Rs 6 lakhs and I don’t have even Rs 100 in my pocket right now." -Kumaravel, father.

This baby had to be brought overnight from Salem to Chennai overnight as his life was in grave danger

When Selvi gave birth to their baby boy on 23rd February, it was such a joyous occasion for the couple that everyone from their extended family was present at the hospital. They couldn’t keep gushing about how much the baby resembled his mother. In just two days, everything went well.

“He started looking very pale all of a sudden, like he was lifeless. He started gasping for air. I started rubbing his tiny arms and legs, but they just went cold. That’s when we called an ambulance and rushed him to Chennai.”-Selvi

His mouth and nose filled with tubes, this baby cannot survive without an urgent surgery

“His whole face is covered in tubes for oxygen support. His life is being temporarily sustained like this. He only has a few hours to live if he does not undergo the surgery soon. My wife and I are not leaving his side even for a minute as we fear these might be our last moments with him." - Kumaravel
Kumaravel and Selvi’s baby was diagnosed with a severe heart disease called total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) in Chennai. It is a condition in which in the blood does not take the normal route from the lungs to the heart and out to the body. Instead, the veins from the lungs attach to the heart in abnormal positions and this problem means that oxygenated blood enters or leaks into the wrong chamber.

Without a paisa to spare, this daily wager can’t save his baby and needs your help

Kumaravel and his wife, Selvi come from a BPL background. – they live in a rented hut in Salem, where Kumaravel works as a daily wager to support his family. He can only afford to buy subsidised rice and vegetables, owing to his low income of Rs 300 a day when work is available. He didn’t save money for Selvi’s delivery believing that she could be admitted in a government hospital. But his baby’s complications have out him in a difficult spot right now – both emotionally and financially.

“My baby is dying and I have nothing to save him. His mother and I can only shed tears. Please help me." - Kumaravel
With your kind contribution, this daily wager can save his baby
