    This fundraiser will benefit

    child of Nikita Gawari

    from Pune, Maharashtra

In the last month, Ratnakar has started feeling that 24 hours in a day are too less. ‘I wish there were some more hours - it feels like I hardly get time to complete my daily chores, I am always shuttling between my home, the hospital and my office,' he says in a tired voice. His 24-days-old newborn son is lying in the NICU, gasping for every breath and Ratnakar is leaving no stone unturned to afford the best treatment for the little baby. Doctors have advised that the baby needs to stay in the hospital for at least 3 more weeks but the skyrocketing costs are out of this poor father’s reach.

An old pic of the happy couple

The young parents’ nightmare didn’t end at the premature delivery of their baby

Ratnakar shudders as he recalls that day when he had to rush Nikita to the emergency. She was in her labour and was wincing in pain. The doctors said that the only option now was delivering the baby.

“When the nurse showed me my baby wrapped in cotton and bandages, I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was so tiny that I was scared to hold him in my arms. That was the last I held him - since that day he is the NICU. I visit him every day and pray to God that I can take him home as soon as possible,” - Ratnakar, father.

The baby is severely underweight and can’t breathe on his own

Ratnakar and Nikita’s baby boy weighs just 1.7 kgs and is also suffering from an infection in his blood (sepsis). He has also unable to breathe on his own. It has been about 24 days that he has been staying in the NICU and the doctors suggest that the baby needs to stay for a longer period.

“Nikita waits the entire day for those 15 mins when the doctor allows her to hold our baby in her arms. She is the happiest then. I try to hold back my tears as I look at them and make Nikita understand that our baby will soon be with us at our home.”

Ratnakar is unable to afford the life-saving treatment for his son on his meagre salary, he needs your help

Ratnakar works in a private company and earns just about enough to support his family. The birth of his little one and the sudden expenditure at the hospital has left him distraught. He has already paid more than a 1 lakh by borrowing from friends and near relatives. For his baby to stay in the hospital, he needs about Rs 5 lakhs. Without your help, it is impossible for him to afford the life-saving treatment.

“I never thought it would come to this but now I don’t hesitate requesting strangers to help me save my son. I have done everything I could but now without help, I will lose my newborn.”

Your kind support can save this baby's life
