    Baby of Harshala

    from Mumbai, Maharashtra

Hello All, this is not a forward, but a personal appeal for a 15 day old premature male child, who is a part of my family member. (Son of Harshala and Manish Damle).

The mother was rushed into maternity home at the 23rd week of pregnancy due to some unforeseen circumstances in the pregnancy. We had lost hope as all the medical field experts told us that if the baby is born before 28 weeks of gestational age, such pregnancy is considered an abortion and the baby will not be tended to. All the government medical facilities follow this rule and told us that if the baby boy is born before 28 weeks, it'll be considered an abortion and hence we were left with one option that if the baby delivers at 23rd week it'll have to be admitted to a private medical care centre.

The first preference obviously was to be given to the mother and hence we followed all the necessary procedures for the same but the excellent timely treatment given by the medical experts, the great will power and strong instinct of a mother to keep her child safe and away from any kind of harm helped the mother to pull the pregnancy from 23rd to 27th week. At this stage too we were left with only one option and that is admitting the baby to a private NICU.

The child has been diagnosed with Respiratory Distress Syndrome of Prematurity and requires hospitalisation for about a couple of months and this hospitalisation costs about Rs.20 to 25 lakhs.

We have already raised funds through the family and after exhausting our sources we decided to seek support from our friends to help the newborn child. This is an appeal for those who voluntarily want to help.

Any amount donated will be a huge help. If possible, please help us to raise more funds and spread the word to as many people as you can. Big or small, every penny counts.

We really appreciate your help and hope to see our little boy return to us Hale and hearty. I believe in humanity so if the baby boy makes it through this battle, humanity wins too and the credit goes to you.

Thank you,
Harshala Damle
