Covid has put a stop to all that. Schools are closed for almost a year. Not just schools, almost every small industry has taken a hit, in most rural areas. Shitalia is one such place. It's a remote village in the Sundarbans. Not just Covid, but Aamphan too has destroyed the livelihoods of the people here.
My wife and I want the children of Shitalia to celebrate Saraswati Puja. They want Khichuri, Alu Bhaja, Paayesh and Mishti. But we don't just want to feed the children, but their parents as well. That's about 300 people. It would take Rs.30,000 for such an endeavour. Obviously, I am just one person and my capacity is a bit low to cover that much. BUT THE PLAN IS ON.
You may accompany us, you may just donate some money, or you may also cook some food or pack from somewhere, OR U MAY JUST READ THIS AND IGNORE. Anyone who donates money will get detailed bills on how the whole money was spent afterwards.
May be we all want to do this every year but we fail due to many reasons. That's what we are going to do this year - do the physical work involved. You eating one pizza less or skipping on the Beer for a week can make them smile. May the goodness be with you.
