**Please support Reviving Hanuman Nadhi River*****
After a gap of several decades, desilting of the 32 km-long Hanumanadhi river water revival project from Rosmiyapuram near Panagudi to Perumanal near Koodankulam in the Tirunelveli district has been taken up to ensure hassle-free supply of water for irrigation to 49 tanks.
This part of the Tirunelveli region ( especially Radhapuram Taluk) is a rain shadow area, due to lack of maintenance of waterways, the water bodies (tanks) around this area , rain water , river water never reached the tanks to become full in its capacity for the past 30 years.
Considering this Farmers of this region, formed Nam Hanumanadhi Iyakkam [Our Haruman River Movement] have joined hands with the district administration in reviving the river, which is filled with silt and debris and encroached upon over the years.
The work has been going on for the past many months, Out of 49 tanks 33 is filled to their full capacity, for the remaining, desilting and clean up work is going on; On average there are 2-3 JCB or heavy equipment being deployed for the above job and on a daily basis, we need 12-15K INR per JCB (including diesel) is being spent on this job. We need financial support to complete this missing during this monsoon season itself.
